For my fellow Boomers - do you remember 1975-1976 - and the hype of the Bi-Centennial?

Anybody else kind of surprised how little hype there is for the 250th anniversary?

Oh don't get me wrong -we went nuts with red/white/blue advertising and it was actually as commercial as Christmas has become.

Just a little curious why the difference.

Yes indeed I remember 1976! Remember the "Bicentennial Minutes" they ran on TV?
I was just short of 19 and brand new in the Air Force. And speaking of "patriotism" today vs yesteryear, back then they couldn't good that job away. The military was for losers. The hollow military, they called it.
