Iodine stung even more

Degbeme · 70-79, M Best Comment
That is a bottle of screams right there.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@Degbeme And that was enough as it turned any wound bright red
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@turnedtostone Exactly!
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@turnedtostone Thank you for best comment. 🌹

Oh yeah... whenever I fell off my bicycle, which was frequently at age 6, I got "painted" with that loathsome stuff.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@SW-User It stung so bad and you had a bright red knee 😫
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I don't recall this stuff at all but any illness we had was treated with milk of magnesia. Urgh ..
SW-User
@turnedtostone That's nasty. 🤢
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@SW-User Aww shuddup moaning or you'll get something to moan about! Lol
SW-User
@Entwistle That was your mom. I won't repeat what mine said, but she might smack someone upside the head with a hairbrush if they don't shut up and say everything's ok. ☠️
goliathtree · 56-60, M
electric tape for bandaids and we were usually admonished to "rub some dirt on it and get over it" or "come over here and I will kick you in the shin and that will get your mind off it."

A world of pansies we have today.
SW-User
@goliathtree Sounds oh so familiar.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@goliathtree We definitely we're not coddled
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
I hated that stuff
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@GJOFJ3 Yeah ,real embarrassing when it was slathered on right before being sent off to school.

We didn't get coddled ,instead,we got told we weren't dead, yet and then the mecuricrome got brought out.
😒
Lostpoet · M
I unfortunately got to experience that.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@Lostpoet you know that saying that which does not kill you makes you strong 😂
SW-User
@Lostpoet Bandaids when I was a kid used to rip the wound wide open again when you tried to pry them off, no matter how gently. Later, they started advertising "ouch free" bandaids.
Lostpoet · M
@SW-User Same as the ones i got.
My mom used it liberally. On knees mostly. 6 sets of knees. Geez. Never forget that bright orange sting.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@PoetryNEmotion Sounds like my mom
Pretzel · 61-69, M
oh yeah
and then they invented bactine - and it didn't seem like it did any good
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@Pretzel My mom probably kept back bottles for future use
Ontheroad · M
It did sting, but as I remember it, Iodine was way worse.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@Ontheroad luckily I never had any iodine put on me
Ontheroad · M
@turnedtostone I think my grandmother bought it by the gallon and Cod Liver Oil by the train load 🤣
Rambler · M
yes but did i learn not to be a klutz? no i did not
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@Rambler LoL, I didn't either. I did learn to lie about injuries
lasergraph · 70-79, M
Yep. My mom kept a stock of it.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@lasergraph I'm not sure but I think my mom might have owned stock in the company 😂
calicuz · 51-55, M
It sure did happen to me. 😭
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@calicuz I sympathize
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
Yikes
I remember….😣
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@ImpeccablyImperfect It was traumatizing
Lmao yep i remember that
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@SimplyMeChantou sorry to have reminded you
SW-User
But somehow it worked 💁‍♂️. 😂
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
@SW-User No pain/No gain
