Not sure just what the new meds are doing...

...except giving me an upset stomach. I guess I feel less desperate, but the sadness remains so deep every time I look at my wife and realize how I'm losing her. Last night she sat there again, re-reading the little pile of papers she's re-read many times before, and I don't think she actually realizes what she is reading. And she gets so frustrated when she says things and neither our son nor I can figure out what she's talking about.

Be sure to report this to her Doctor or clinic ASAP. Whether a new drug or a change to an existing medication, there may be unintended consequences, some are called minor temporary side effects and some may be undesirable reactions. I don't know what drug she is taking, but most prescription drugs for seniors are serious medicines that one must approach cautiously.

For your own peace of mind, you might check the internet, either the FDA's website or the drugmaker's and see what the recommended dosages should be and whether there may be conflicting issues, and whether they should be gradually worked up to or not.

I'm not a very serious person, but reading your post here has touched me and I hope things start going better for you, that's sincere.
I have a friend who's just started her journey with Alzheimer's.
It takes a while for some meds to kick in. Weeks, sometimes.

That sadness is painful. Hard to watch someone you love diminishing.

Try to find ways to enjoy the now with her. Small things, usually.

My husband had been in one medical crisis or another for a year. One difficult thing to do was remembering my husband was not just a patient.

One evening after a trying day I sat beside him on the couch and rested my head on his frail shoulder.

He said softly, "I missed this."

Oh, so did I.
