I know some who had success with this book

@faery Another way that works and costs a lot less than that book is visiting a cancer ward and talk to people about how much fun cancer is......if they still have a voice box.
Sit down and ask yourself..........if I don't have cancer or emphysema YET.......will I get it if I smoke one more pack? Is the next pack the one that will kill me.........in a really horrible way?
If that don't do it..........you deserve what you get.

@anythingoes477 Fairly harsh there. People need support. That's why they reach out for it. It often takes people multiple tries to end addictions. Besides, everyone dies in the end and hardly any type of death is without suffering.

@faery Support kills people because it tells them soothing things like they want to hear.........like "don't worry about it, when you get sick then you can quit"......and "I know so and so who has smoked for 40 years and he's OK". And they say things like you just did...........".everyone dies sooner or later so........"
If you TRULY want to save someone from the agony of dying of lung cancer......something completely preventable........it takes a blunt reality check.....not a pat on the back.
