Muscle massager gun Vs. TENS Unit?

My sister is looking for a tool to possibly help her neuropathy in her feet. Anyone know what might help more, a muscle massager/gun or a TENS unit?
She's wondering if any relief can be an option if nerves are nearly dead? 😕

What little I know about TENS machines would seem to indicate they would not be effective or safe for a person with neuropathy, but PLEASE check with a doctor first.
