Easing ourselves back into wearing clothes!

Like Chiara I am wearing a dress today, one that I discovered I have which was at the back of my wardrobe here. I keep quite a lot of clothes here for two reasons the most important one being that I don’t have to pack a bag if I come over for any reason, I can just jump on a plane!

Yes, Chiara has chosen to wear a lightweight long dress we bought her in Palermo a couple of days ago. It has cheered her up a little since she is having a painful menstruation period this week. She has actually been crying because she is in so much pain. I’m hoping this is just while she adjusts to having become a woman a month or so ago and this isn’t the normal thing for her.

I have read just how debilitating the pain can be and I know it actually has a name since it is a condition. Dysmenorrhea, also known as painful periods or menstrual cramps, is a condition characterized by cramping pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation. 🩸

I am concerned that she will not have to endure this pain on a monthly basis because she will be affected by it in many ways, as many others are who struggle with it, and find it life-limiting. I’m quite grateful to Edoardo who has cuddled her and reassured her that this might be a one-off, and we must continue to pray that she will feel better soon. Warm hands just below her navel seems to help, her bloating is apparent.

We are going to go for a drive and get some chocolate ice cream, I swear by chocolate 🍫 when I have my period, and all children love ice cream (if they are not intolerant to some of it’s constituent parts).

She's probably too young but I found getting the right pill can help a lot. Now I really don't worry about it like I used to

@KatyO83 I’ve heard masturbating can help too, though I have never done it when I have my period!

@Ximenajacoba I used to. And it did used to help as did sex during period if the guy is OK with it.

I have used Desogestrel for some years now and my period is light or not at all, about 1 in 4 don't seem to happen at all. Hardly any pain at all.

@Ximenajacoba that has long been the excuse for masturbation, trust me, after 50 years of medical practice, there is no truth to it as treatment. You need to discuss the situation with her physician and try medication, i believe i mentioned using naproxen, but it has to be started before the period begins, and low dose birth control pills can be helpful to adjust her periods, i and not saying to use it against your religion.
