Yes, the initial sticker price for medical service is always a shock.
Then you later get the insurance statement, where the insurance pays the negotiated price of about 1/3 the sticker price, and you are left with a relatively small co-payment.
I imagine the original sticker price is what the medical gougers would try to hit you with if you didn't have insurance. 🙄
Hospital's original demands are like the initial figure an attorney sues for. They can't raise it later so they come up a most outrageous worst case scenario, knowing they'll work down from there
I had a brief period without insurance. I find if you speak with the doctor himself he'll, at the least, cut it in half. The assistants and secretaries can be Nazis.
Except with minor bills, I don't think anyone pays full price (can be like car shopping 😁 )
