Anyone have diabetic neuropathy?

In your feet?

If your neuropathy has been helped..what med or treatment did you get? My sister has awful numbness in her feet plus horrible stabbing pain. It is heartwrenching seeing her in such distress. Any new ideas or neuropathy treatments welcome.

I have stabbing neuropathy pain on the top of my right foot. I find that it is usually fine during the day when I am active, but comes on in the evening when I am sitting. Getting up and moving around helps somewhat. Also, I can sometimes get temporary relief from using lidocaine spray.

Have neuropathy from the chemotherapy drugs that were administered after my cancer surgery. In pain or discomfort 24/7 so I can understand how she feels.
If the nerves are dead nothing can be done, go for nerve conduction study. Also get blood work done to check what blood components are they lacking. Doctors can give some medicine to numb the pain though. In any case best bet is to go to hospital

Yes I do and It's chronic and life changing

@Coralmist not really. We have had chats over the last few years and I wish she could get her A1c down. Mine is 5.8 and has been that or as much as 6.0 over the last several years but my diet is hard core

@gdon39 wow 5.8 is out of diabetes range..I believe it is pre diabetes. That is awesome!

@Coralmist I don't have to take any meds. I just do chair and floor yoga bc of a nasty injury 4 and s half years ago so diet is super important and a total life commitment
I’m still in the early stages, so it comes and goes. But a dentist (of all sources) suggested a foot soak of cheap commercial mouthwash !
It’s very soothing.

@bijouxbroussard Wow I never would have thought of that . So your symptoms (pain or numbness) are mild? I will tell my sister about the foot soak. Anything might help. She is trying to get laser therapy on her feet which supposedly help the pain or numbness. It is very pricey. She also may need nerve grafting surgery on her feet. This is all so rapid... the pain gets worse each day :(
@Coralmist At this point, yes. And since I lost some weight this year (although I don’t know if that’s a connection) edema and discomfort has stopped completely. I got my foot exam last month and there’s no numbness.
You sure she's not got gout? Has she had a blood test for Creatinine?
