WTF is the 'gender pain gap' ?

One of the big drug companies making painkiller drugs (RB) is currently running TV ads targetting women specifically talking about a 'thing' called the 'gender pain gap'.

Is this a problem that doesn't exist, or something that's been re-invented as a way to market pain drugs to women?

It is a thing and the best way I've heard the differences between male and female pain tolerances is if you had a man and a woman and hit them with a small hammer the woman would be able to tolerate it longer but if it were a big hammer the man would be able to tolerate it longer. Of course there are thousands of variables to this but it's a general rule.
* the hammer's size indicate how much pain they inflict.
