I know you are tired of extreme vegans, I know you are tired because of life's stresses... But animals do matter..

Take a minute to think about it. Just by yourself, no need to engage in any debate or anything. Only give it a minute. I'm not asking to change your opinion or your diet. Just look at it. I don't mean to look at the picture, look at the human activity. Just silently look.

if everyone owned their own farm animals it'd be more humane sometimes, but many times even worse, because most people are terrible. I think at the very least that the industrialization has brought the life experience of all farm animals to the average, and many times average is better. Of course, there's the option to go vegetarian, but that's unrealistic....

@MartinTheFirst it's a personal quest, that leads to the communal behaviours, nothing unrealistic... Our societies are shaped and changing all the time..so it's on us, the next turn. That's not any romantic daydreaming coming from me, it's observation about human history.
I know what you are talking about though.
There was this post here couple days ago about that child who asked to be called by a different pronounce in school and was removed then from that school from the parents, as the school didn't inform them about it.
In the comments there arose a question whether it'd be better for children to not be "owned" by parents but rather institutions. Or something similar, you get the point I think.
It seems to me like a similar case scenario this one you're bringing up.

@being I think that's a separate issue, and while there is a parallel to be drawn, I don't think it's justified. Animals are not of the same worth as human lives, and therefore should not be treated the same.

@MartinTheFirst Here's another division to my eyes.. As I see it, we are all one thing. Treating anything in any way, is treating ourselves.

@being in some senses we are, but not on a social level
