Cobalt prosthetic total hip replacement problems.

My one true friend underwent a hip replacement several years ago and for the last year cobalt from the parts has been leaking into his bloodstream.
He experiences chronic pain and it will eventually kill him.

@Wiseacre No. Thankfully the figure is rather low at 8%.
There are approximately 26,000 hip replacement surgeries per year in Australia.
Which extrapolates to roughly 2060 people having this issue yearly.

@Gusman oof. that's an unfortunate way to go. that sounds like a helluva malpractice suit. which doesn't help him at all, but maybe for his family.

@MarineBob There have been recalls. I do not know which manufacturer supplied his parts.
He does not want to go through the procedure again. He has had a double hip replacemnet.
