Hands cramping

Does anyone know what causes my hand to cramp badly? How do I stop it? It really hurts, and makes work almost impossible.

Do you get other symptoms?
Tingling or Pins and needles?
Are there specific things that bring it on?
Do you get symptoms at any other time of day

@72andy No there symptoms, and I get them at work. My ankles or legs cramp at night.

@ShaneMckay There are several possible causes.
Nerve compression being the most likely. Vascular or muscle compartment problems are more uncommon.
There could be a task specific dystopia as well, writers cramp being the most well known.
Next time it happens, check your skin sensation and map it if needed.
See which muscles are cramped, the position it stays. What you can and can’t do

@72andy It forms like a claw, and I can't move it. Very painful. Not writer's cramp, as I haven't any writing nor typing in my job.

@ShaneMckay writers cramp is just a colloquial name for a focal dystonia.
Sounds like a nerve issue
