Doctors holding health for ransom

My doctor told me that I need to take my meds every day for the rest of my life, and he at first gave me three refills on my prescriptions. He later reduced it to two, then one, and now zero. If I don't see him every three months I don't get the meds I supposedly need. I think I'll try going without and see if my health deteriorates any. I don't like his forcing me into seeing him more and more often to get what he says I definitely need.

I guess it depends on the meds he has you on. I get mine for 5 months to a year. If you feel uncomfortable you should get a new doctor or ask him why you have to see him so often.

@Spoiledbrat They have a standard explanation: "The doctor likes to see his patients every three months".
@HollyW I don't know what your ailment is but there are other doctors. I only see my cardiologist every 6 months.
@HollyW If you're taking a controlled medication, they'll want to see you more often.
