Twenty one years ago today

It’s been 21 years since I had my left hip replaced at 19 years old.

It’s still doing well so far. My Surgeon figured it would only last 10-15 years so it feels like I am living on borrowed time here 😂.

I still deal with all the nerve damage in my leg from the surgery but I am so thankful I had it done.

Still not looking forward to the revision though.

Edit to add why I had it done:

I was born with congenital hip dysplasia which means the hip joint is malformed and doesn’t sit correctly. I was in a fibreglass body cast to try and correct it but mine was very bad.

My leg was also 2 inches shorter so when the surgeon took out by hip he basically yanked on my leg to stretch it out and lengthen it. I have permanent nerve damage that’s very painful because of it.

The surgeon had to lengthen my leg and there was a chance the nerve damage could be permanent and of course for me it was. It’s not his fault though. Now I don’t have to wear a raise in my shoes which I hated so much.

I can understand that it is better to have had this done than to not have any treatment, but you would think modern medicine could do better. All that pain you have suffered over those years!! It makes me sad for you and angry at the doctors. 😡

@SW-User the nerve damage wasn’t his fault, that was a risk that I knew could happen and it did because I have shit luck lol.
