My skin grew over my stitches overnight!

I had a skin cancer removed from my calf 12 days ago and am scheduled to have them removed in 5 days. The last few days it has been very red and looking infected, but I have continued using the antibiotic cream and oral antibiotics the doctor prescribed. So I got up today and looked at my stitches, and my skin is almost completely grown over the stitches! I tried to get them out myself, but even the knots are under the skin now! Has this ever happened to anyone else here? It’s the weekend, so my doctors office is closed. I can’t get off work to go in the doctor on Monday, and they don’t have any appointments until Friday, which is my appointment to get the stitches removed. I’m really terrified. They will have to dig them out and I’m scared of that pain if they won’t deaden it- and those shots hurt like Hell anyway! Night before last I was stressing about it so much that I couldn’t sleep all night and kept imagining the doctor trying to dig them out. I’m freaking out now.

Honestly they quite close to the surface and yeah makes it more awkward but it's a very common thing. I had 4 screws drilled into my gum line one time so they could band my lower jaw shut when I'd had it broken and one of the screws on the bottom row just got swallowed up it fell in under my gumline and all healed up they had to cut it back out a few months later and like you I worried about it gonna be painful, they'll be sticking needles in my face, like hate dental work needle jabs at best of times, but they just looked said ''look we can numb it up if you really want or you put up with a few moments of pain job done and it was nothing.

I mean they do this stuff regular and they got options on the table they might even have that stuff they rub in just to take the edge off for all I know but like I say I was just worrying myself over nothing it wasn't exactly nice experience but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

On the day it will be two minutes the job will be done. Hope it all goes well though and honestly try not to worry yourself they'll know what to do you make it as comfortable as they can it will be over in a few moments. x
