Whats the toughest decision youve ever had to make?

Family court proceedings had just begun and I had my son with me when first found out about it. I was informed by my lawyer that due to there being no legal custody agreements that the court would consider whomever my son was living with would be thought of as the parent with majority of custody till legal ruling had taken place.
I had to make the decision to keep my son with me and have things possibly go more in my favor in court. Or let him be with his mother also knowing I really had no hope at all in getting a fair court case.
hardest decision I ever made was taking him back to her that day because I could never do that to him and strongly feel that a child needs both parents.

I never saw him for 4 months after that due to her refusing me to let me see him and in court I was treated like a criminal despite glowing assessments, supervised visitations and all that.
They said that a child only needs their mothers and yeah 2 years of me fighting a losing uphill battle when things could have potentially went somewhat different.
As much shit as I went through, I am now still glad I did what I did. It just proves to me that I will always put my son first over myself

Worst years of my life by far though.

@SomeMichGuy thanks but honestly I think my son had it harder. He was young enough where he doesnt remember any of it now but damn it was rough on him at times
@Torsten You are very generous of spirit for being treated so very poorly. I do not think I could be so magnanimous.
