Two years later no one of those politically invested in claiming it's artificial managed to provide any evidence, aside from the "the first case coincidentally was close to a lab", which isn't evidence at all.

Since extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and assuming the Chinese (or anyone) have the means to engineer a completely new virus from scratch, quite different from its closest resembling "relative", is quite an extraordinary one - the most logical explanation is that, just like all the previous pandemics that plagued the past, also this one is the result of a natural event, in particular a zoonotic spillover.

This obsession with an artificial origin is nothing more than the result of fear and denial: people simply don't want to acknowledge that, no matter what, nature has a tighter grip on us than we have on it. That, and the fact that many people think their lives are, essentially, a movie.
