Not all policies are sexist

So I am a warehouse manager.

We have a policy that anyone with shoulder length hair or longer needs to pull it back in someway. We have way to much dangerous equipment that long hair can get caught in.

None of the male staff have long hair. But we have a young lady that does. She tells me daily the policy is sexist unfair and against her rights.
Our boss said fine don't pull your hair back. I was against this.

Well today he allowed her to pick. she was using a tugger. It was hot so she had the fan on while using it. She leaned over and her hair got tangible in the fan. We had to call 911. Needless to say she doesn't have long hair anymore

Thankfully she wasn't hurt to bad and i have it on record he allowed her to do this despite my warnings and the policy i tried to put in place.
I don't think that's sexist at all. She might have felt picked on because she is a female and often they have long hair. But you explained that the rule refers to anyone with long hair.

Food industry has that for hygiene too.

Painful way for her to learn a lesson. Machinery and heavy equipment has no biases and will humble anyone who acts a fool by it

@deadgerbil i feel bad it happened but i did all i could. When my boss overrided me it was out of my hands.
