Has anyone had hair loss?

My sister is experiencing significant hair loss for the last year..she is under constant stress from her unstable diabetes and neuropathy pain. I think that's a big part or cause of the hair loss. Any other ideas what might cause hair loss (aside from vitamin deficiency)?
