Have you tried exfoliating before hand and applying cream afterwards?
As for hair removal cream, rather than washing it off make sure you wipe it off with a cloth kind of roughly. It usually helps.

That sounds annoying. I have sensitive skin too it's a struggle.

I get that too! I don't have thick hair, but do have sensitive skin.
Something I have found that really helps is rubbing an ice cube on the area after, and keeping it moisturized.
I also make as few passes over areas as possible, which usually means changing out blades frequently.
