I Am Trying to Break My Bad Habits

Does anyone have tips for keeping a room clean? I made a bet with my sister that I need to keep my room clean till APRIL! Any help?

Hmmm. I won’t say anything like make your bed, but it does help.

1. Have a place for everything. (Organize your belongings by purpose. School supplies in one place, books in another, etc.)

2. Try to avoid eating in your room as often as possible. This helps avoid any possible chances of messes that are not related to things already in the room.

3. If you see a mess, get it taken care of right away. Believe me, this is one of the tips that have helped me a lot before. The point of it is so that the mess will not build up to the point where you might feel overwhelmed/it might be too much.

4. Set rules and guidelines for anyone that comes into your room. Things like keep shoes out, only eat if they clean up after, etc.

5. The most important: STAY DILIGENT AND INSPIRED. I cannot stress this enough. If you feel it might be hard to keep up having a clean room, do a few things at a time, and then REWARD yourself for it. This is a great way to build up a habit and to keep it. Positive reinforcement.

I hope these tips help you and good luck in winning that bet (although the true prize would be knowing where you are stepping 😂)

Get yourself a large basket with handles. Every day go around the room and anything that is not where it is supposed to be (dirty clothes, shoes, jewelry, dishes, glasses) put in the basket. Then it's easy to walk around with the basket on your arm and just put things back where they belong...dirty clothes in the hamper, dishes in the kitchen, and so on. Clutter is always the worst problem, and the daily basket filling is a good way to overcome clutter. I don't fuss with my bed. I just have a comforter that hides all the lumps. :)
