What is something every teenager should know about "the real world"?

Everyone is NOT their friend.

Understanding the value of friendship, kindness and humanity.

How to budget, save and understand the value of money.

The dangers of it as well as the beauty of it.

How to print and sign their own name.

The importance of "reading the fine print." As well as general literacy.

How to adequately handle things like peer pressure, bullying, self harm, mental health, sex and healthy sex practices as well as a the anatomy of their own body.

Where to go and to whom they should speak if they need help. Too many feel utterly alone and will say nothing out of embarrassment or lack of info amongst other reasons

How to treat others and how they should or should not allow themselves to be treated.

The fact that they DO have a voice and choices and are not alone.

That it is entirely ok to make their own choices and go their own way but that they have to be prepared for the responsibility and the consequences of that in all facets.

How to cook basic meals, clean up after themselves and pay bills. it's important to their survival unless they're lucky.

I'm sure there's more but that's all I have for now.

Friends are forged in real life not online.
Never to take your health for granted.
Eat a balanced diet and eat at least three times a day.
Never align yourself with a political or religious perspective. Those who push such ideas have no care for you.
Be respectful of everybody. Even if you don't get where they're coming from.
Be kind rather than judgemental.
Pay attention. Trickery is everywhere.
Keep debt manageable.
Try and save money. Doesn't matter how much. Saving regularly is a good habit.
Watch out that your interests don't become vices. Humanity is littered with those who became slaves to drink; drugs; exercise; slimming; sex; poor partner choices; etc.

Working too hard does have negative consequences, sometimes way sooner than you might expect.
How to prepare for old age because it will come. Don't waste your youth. Do something.
