The more work you put into kids from 0-12 years of age the less work you need to put in them from 13-19.. If you put little or no work into kids from 0-12 then trying to start doing so from 13-19 will often be a waste of effort..
Sadly some teens / young adults need to find out why there are rules by personally suffering the sometimes dramatic consequences of breaking the rules..
