Boeing Boeing, you have this unusual way of seeing beyond the obvious person in front of you. :)) I love it. You notice the history underneath people, the things that shaped them, the languages they carry, the wounds and inheritances that quietly follow them through life.
There was this one time you spoke about my ancestors in response to one of my posts. You didn't reduce that story to folklore or something strange about my background :)) you saw it as part of a life that had travelled through generations and you told me that my actions could themselves be a kind of prayer, breaking generational curses and clearing a name.
When I spoke about our ancient language couple years ago, you didn't simply respond to what I said. you recognized something of yourself in it, the feeling of belonging imperfectly to several linguistic worlds, of losing pieces of a language while living through another, of wondering where our limited time should go.
And when I told you I was stepping back from a life of constantly serving, you understood that retreat didn't necessarily mean defeat..you saw the years of giving behind the decision and wished me well for whatever frontier came next.
That is what I am grateful for in you: you listen for the life behind words. You have your own history of movement, languages, places, experiences and searching, and perhaps that is why you recognize in other people the things that don't fit neatly into a sentence.
You give many people the rare feeling of being seen without being dissected, understood without having to explain every layer, and I hope you know how precious that is in this world. Some bonds are built from having the same interests; others are built from recognizing something familiar in the way the other person moves through this strange, finite life. And for that, I am deeply, quietly and loudly grateful that our paths crossed. 🤗🤗
