I don’t mean like close it permanently, just to have an option to stop incoming messages for as long as you want. Like your whiteboard.

There’s been times where I’ve wanted to just do that. No reaching out to me whatsoever so I can just comment or browse in peace. Plus, there’s those who only message me when they see I’m active. That’s another level of nu uh.
Ugh.. I have experienced that too, that’s online stalking pretty much..

Nuno said they are really reluctant to allow users to close their inboxes. Not sure why.

If they just had a redirect when someone tried to message us to a page saying “this user isn’t accepting messages at this time” it would solve any lost messages, or a hey I sent you a message but you never saw it” even from friends. And obviously the main thing: we won’t get creepy messages to deal with. To be forced to ignore. Like we are emotionless and can just walk away without being affected. @PerfectionOfTheHeart

That’s actually a perfect message for the break from it. It’s clean and respectful.

Most of my creepy messages go straight to my requests folder thanks to my settings. My number only lights up when I get messages from those I actually enjoy conversing with. And when I do check the requests folder, they tend to get archived without a second thought. It’s a couple steps to retain my peace, but it’s no biggie to me. I think I checked a week back or so and I had nearly 500 message threads archived, which is a crap ton of creeps over the year. Still far fewer than some women get here.

And when I have an inbox where the cool people have gone silent and I’m left with the eh ones, I’ll send them straight to ignore so they don’t light up my inbox. It’s my way of being blissfully unbothered 😌
