Useless info regarding the “NEW” badge

If you delete your account and later rejoin using the same email there’s no “NEW” badge.
That’s why I don’t have one, not that anyone cares but sharing anyway. 😜

Users can't immediately re-join using the same email address. It takes a few months until the email is freed up so you can create a new account.

A user said here:
oh. thats kinda terrible coding. and makes room for weird problems.

If a user cancelled the account, then we have to respect the privacy and eventually dissociate the email.
That's also to comply to regulations such as GDPR (and similar laws in the USA).

This is good to know. Thanks.

This, too - - - - a regular contributor recently changed his user name. He said it was easy to do so I looked into it. One catch, though: the name you wish to cast aside can then be used by someone else who may want to use it for nefarious ends!

Why not just keep your original account active, even if you become less active for a while?

I’ve been here for six years, and I’ve never understood all the intrigue and shenanigans people go through with concealing their identities, creating multiple accounts, etc.

It’s as if people have something to hide or be ashamed of.

@RedBaron I deleted it…period. Decided 8 months later to come back…period.

@FreeorLonely OK, but why delete it at all?
