Do you always initiate or say hello to your SW friends in DM, or wait till they say it?

I am not sure what the rule is here.
Do you always initiate a conversation with your friends on here?If you see them online or do you just wait sometime for them to say hello?

I usually don't think about that until we have met over several post comments and interactions.

That being said, I never DM first. Or very rarely. If I'm DM'ing you out of the blue, it would mean I'm into you and want to know more about you.

@Chiefjustice Well, i continue conversation till it stops. If someone DM's me hi that I have been messaging, i will always reply. And depending on how well we have gotten along, I will DM a good morning first.

May be I should have phrased this question differently, such as, how often do people say hi to their SW friends if they notice them being online? Just a checking on them etc. Just a courtesy check.

@FoxyQueen lol yes! This is SW freeway or hallway. I think every greenlight doeant mean it is an open door policy to come in and say or is it? Lol
