To heart a comment is the minimalist way of acknowledging their reply, doing less can be translated by some as either not seeing it or not worthy of acknowledging.

@FloorGenAdm emoji to your HEARTS delight. My point to the one you can see I'm arguing with is a heart indicates a like not an acknowledgement of having read. There are other emojis for that that can indicate you've read and dislike or disagree and the red face to indicate you're pissed.
