What does "pinning" a post actually achieve? Does it guarantee more views or something?

I believe it simply pins it to the top of the list of your stories, questions, etc. Pinned items are the first things people will see when they look at your profile.

It's for putting more significant posts at the top of your page.

It's just highlighting the posts a person wishes others to see first when viewing their profile, because it's important to them in some way. That is why I've "pinned" posts, anyway.

It does not guarantee anything.

I do use this and take it seriously.

Is people look you up to see what you have posted, it will get more views.

I use this for the posts that I think are the most important.

I think it means it won't be deleted, it will go round and round for several days.

To save the post maybe?

It just puts it at the top of your profile it's only seen more by people looking at your profile.. because it's right on top of you posts instead of buried somewhere (for people who make a lot of posts)

It means it will be the first thing seen by somebody visiting your profile page. So if you really want them to know a thing about you Pin it

It insures that if someone looks at your profile those posts will be most representative of your content, because that’s what they’ll see.
