Why Bother Commenting On Other SW User's Posts?

How do you feel when there is no response to your comments? No reply, no emoji, nada, nothing?

I realize that some posts get a number of responses so you may not be able to reply to everyone. But how about a simple smile or thumbs up acknowledging another SW members comments? I have written some genuine encouraging responses to posts, and i see the post.has comments and replies to other comments, but i see nothing. Is it a popularity contest here? Do people lack basic social graces.

I had a similar conversation with one of my DFs yesterday. He's a writer, and his poetry is excellent. He's posted some of it on SW, and he does have a few upvotes. However, I see people posting the most insignificant things, and they receive like twenty upvotes. I can't help but feel offended when my DF doesn't receive the same number of upvotes. It's reasonable to say that things aren't the same on SW as they once were, which is unfortunate.
