Why Bother Commenting On Other SW User's Posts?

How do you feel when there is no response to your comments? No reply, no emoji, nada, nothing?

I realize that some posts get a number of responses so you may not be able to reply to everyone. But how about a simple smile or thumbs up acknowledging another SW members comments? I have written some genuine encouraging responses to posts, and i see the post.has comments and replies to other comments, but i see nothing. Is it a popularity contest here? Do people lack basic social graces.

I usually try to respond when I do notice comments. But I miss a few now and then. Though, I'll ignore a comment if it comes off as trollish or if its just a response like 'lol'or something along thoes lines.

I still don't really understand why some people choose to respond to posts about topics/groups they're not fans of considering they can simply choose to block the groups or just ignore them.
