Why Bother Commenting On Other SW User's Posts?

How do you feel when there is no response to your comments? No reply, no emoji, nada, nothing?

I realize that some posts get a number of responses so you may not be able to reply to everyone. But how about a simple smile or thumbs up acknowledging another SW members comments? I have written some genuine encouraging responses to posts, and i see the post.has comments and replies to other comments, but i see nothing. Is it a popularity contest here? Do people lack basic social graces.

My favorite is when someone comments on someone else’s comment without interacting whatsoever with the original post.

No feedback on posts was primarily a male problem. Lately I see it happening to females too, although to a lesser degree.

It sucks when you really put an effort into a response and all you get back is nothing or next to nothing. I’m guilty of this too. Full disclosure. It wasn’t always the case though. I’ve become jaded by the lack of empathy, by the lack of humanity. In studying humans for the past decade I see through just about everything now. I can see the motives behind the motives. Humanity sickens me by its predictability. I also love humanity by its simplicity and inherent beauty. I get to glimpse that now and again. It makes my soul swoon and that’s why I stay.
