@AthrillatheHunt Jar Jar was supposed to be a character kids would find amusing. Supposedly, George Lucas based him on the Disney character Goofy. He has been criticized as a stereotype of Jamaicans, but there's no evidence this was intentional. In the first movie, he's a goofball, while in the second, he's suddenly a delegate to the Galactic Senate who recommends that Emperor Palpatine be given emergency powers. Maybe that was a political commentary of some kind.
