I'm pretty sure your math is wrong, because if your numbers were correct, and I did the math correctly, then earth would drop an inch about every 6.5 feet. Which I believe we can both agree that doesn't happen.
Where the internet seems to suggest the actual numbers are 8 inches per mile, or an inch for every 7920 feet.
So instead of 6,990.5 feet drop, there would actually be less than 68.3 feet drop.
