@NativePortlander1970 Fakebook you mean ?

@NativePortlander1970 I was actually successfully off Facebook x years until people started selling stuff there.
@Queendragonfly I have a neighbor that responded to a marketplace ad for classic VHS movies, that turned out to be various 80's and 90's porn.

@NativePortlander1970 He can honestly get a good price if he finds a vintage porn collector. Goooold!
@Queendragonfly I went with him because I have my own small collection, when we saw the titles and covers we split.

@NativePortlander1970 Woah that's so rad!

I can hear the sound of the VHS machine when looking at it.

Is this a good time to tell you that I used it for something naughty?
@Queendragonfly Rad? I haven't used that term in roughly 30 years or so. Um, what kind of naughty?

@NativePortlander1970 Fits the old school theme perfectly then.

So. With a little imagination the VHS port can also be a ...

Car toy garage.

And yes I did that, to 2 VHS machines. When Dad bought the third one he put it on a shelf where I couldn't reach.
@Queendragonfly That is does, my baby cousin, I was 19 when she was born, decided at the age of three that my uncle's VCR was hungry, and proceeded to push a peeled banana through the slot, a $450 four head hifi that he bought eight years earlier.

@NativePortlander1970 I knew I couldn't be the only kid with a vivid imagination ! 😂

@NativePortlander1970 For any one of those VHS titles, there are probably a dozen copies of each of them at goodwill or other thrift stores.

My room mate and I would sometimes play a game of "How many copies of "Speed" are at this one?"
@CestManan Our local Goodwill liquidated all of their VHS titles a couple of years ago for one day only, 10/$1, it was like black friday for a bunch of us X'ers and Boomers, as well as some older Millennials looking for Disney orange tape classics. I got about 15 or 16 movies out of the fray, including that E.T.

@NativePortlander1970 Our goodwills are still cluttered with them.
I am surprised that beyond 2020 or even 2015 that there are still so many VHS out there.
I mean hell even DVD's are out of style. I go to goodwill on any given day and there is this huge selection of DVD players collecting dust.
When I see some fancy DVD player for $15 on the shelf I cannot help but think, "Somebody is probably still paying for this thing on credit."

The cycle of electronics - when new, some people just cannot afford it. When old, junk stores cannot even give it away.
@CestManan I remember the first basic DVD players going north of $1K, now you can get one on Amazon for about $20.

@NativePortlander1970 Probably some real cheapo one but at that price it would be no real loss if it crapped out.
