Scam or what

I've had two different people so far message me something like this;

"Hello. May I ask you a question. It's job related but I don't want to post it publicly in case people make fun of me...."

Both of these people I ignored as it seems a bit strange but does anyone know what's the purpose of that message?

In addition to what others have said, it is possible that the two accounts are the same person.

Could possibly be a blow job joke, but there's only one way to find out. So long as you don't part with any personal info or pics you could entertain the question

They're fishing for something. I've received odd messages on Quora and usually it takes a few messages back and forth to get to what they were wanting. "So what are your interest?" If you really wanted to know you would have looked at the questions I was answering, but ok, I'll play along. One suggested that because I had the same first name as her father or grandfather we might be related. Eventually she got around to asking for money. There's been a few others wanting to tell me about some real estate deal that we could make lots of money from.

Thanks everyone. That seems to confirm at least something fishy. I will just ignore.

Ice breaker... And not particularly good ones

@Convivial I think hello is fine but I prefer people who just call a spade a spade and message me directly with what they want to know. Icebreakers just take up my time.

@SW-User i guess everyone has a different approach and different preferences ...too direct could be a problem lol

Phishing maybe, looking for personal information.
Tell them you’re not interested.
I can't imagine. Job related??? 🤷‍♂️

I don't answer those, nor do I jump into those things on Facebook--hey, what's your favorite food? the street you grew up on? First grade teacher's name?

I don't have to say why, right?
