Not sure when this feature changed...

What is the thinking behind only having the 'reply' link on posts of people you interact with and the others you must click on the actual post before being able to comment?

Just a little irritation....

Based on the screenshot provided in one of the comments here, what you are referring to is a Comment in Feed, by someone who you interact with often/recently.

For those, we only show their comment, but don't show the rest of the post, other than the title. You can click on the Title or "Reply" to see the rest.
Showing the rest of the post there would take a lot of space, when the focus is the Comment, not the original Post.

Please note that if you don't like these, you can disable them by clicking the "Customize Feed" button.

Regarding comments like these:

@LordShadowfire
Idk, just another "improvement" by @admins who can't seem to solve all the glitches.

@aboveaverageaveragejoe
More dumb shit by people without a clue how to design a UI.

This feature exists since several years ago already, and it's been working well so far.
As I explained, the focus is on the Comment, not on the Post.

Most users enjoy it and don't have a problem with it.
It greatly boosted interaction with old posts that otherwise would have been "lost" and no longer active.
These Comments in the Feed help bringing those posts back to the feeds, and keep them active.

We provide the option to disable these, for those who don't like.
@Nuno common sense, this strategy has proven to work!
@Nuno nobody gives a shit about old posts. Most of the users are gone or don't look at them anyway or situations change. Leave old posts dead.

@aboveaverageaveragejoe Your opinion is not everyone else's. And as I said, you can disable these if you don't like them.

Whoa I never realized this before and now I see it. Weird I have no idea why they did that
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@SW-User it's so stupid, surely people should be encouraged to easily interact with others and this seems like a little extra stupid addition.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@Fantabulous some people are thinking too much and knowing too little about how we interact here
@Fantabulous every day sites seem to make it harder to communicate. It's a conspiracy.
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
I’m not sure I understand. 🤔
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@Fantabulous thank you. I hadn’t noticed this yet. Hmmm
Fantabulous · 46-50, F
@Ambroseguy80 so it seems like if you are friends with the original poster or friends with someone that comments then the reply is there....but otherwise not. Very weird
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@Fantabulous very strange indeed. As if you aren’t welcome to comment
