So since I was last here in SW, I got a new MRI

Proof that my incurable and untreatable illness has progressed.

What do you all think about euthanasia in my circumstance?

It's up to you. It's your life, you need to think about it. Check with some medics what are the real options. Check with family and close friends.
But in the end, it's your life and your choice.

@Alfarrobas Obviously thinking about it. Documented in my POLST and living will, no resuscitation, etc. My family has a number of others with the same genetic illness. Many of them have died with it.

Many of them are trapped in religion and therefore have no insight. Close friends don't like what the illness is doing to me, and no support there one way or another.

This is one way to find out who your friends are. Things get real.
@Alfarrobas The Pro Life Republicans may say otherwise. Maybe it's no longer her choice.

@FlowersNButterflies I wish you luck with this adventure. Either it is your last,or not.

@Pitchblue they have the ilusion of that power. She may not be able to go for euthanasia, can simply go for a suicide.
And I don't know if she is from the USA or not, so...I don't assume that it's the republicans.

@Pitchblue There are many ways to make the choice. But I do not consider it suicide; it would be an act of self-love, and euthanasia. If I were healthy or had a chance of recovery, I would see it differently, might play the odds. But there is no hope. And my test shows I am worsening. Why stay and suffer in a hopeless situation?

I never thought I would be in this setting. My condition is considered new, insofar as many of us have been wrongly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, etc. There was not even a test for it until 2000. My mother, her sister, grandfather, great-aunt and more were never even diagnosed with CADASIL.
@FlowersNButterflies I have been misdiagnosed for decades. Now doctors just look you up on line and go with the last doctors diagnosis. There is no second opinion. I hear what you are saying. Your body your choice, right?
FlowersNButterflies · 61-69, F
@Alfarrobas Did you know that if somebody decides you are a risk to yourself or others they can seize you? @Pitchblue

@Pitchblue I have a ton of "second opinions", DNA test result, and five brain MRI's, along with a positive family history and symptoms reflective of my diagnosis. No mistake.

How were you diagnosed and falsely diagnosed (no surprises there, the medical community is highly subjective and disordered).
@FlowersNButterflies The laws are so crazy and they are going to get far worse if the Republicans get anymore power than they already have.

@Pitchblue I absolutely agree. But I am NOT above ignoring the laws if they cause me harm. I am not a "good person" in that way. Republicans are among the reason I am glad I am old and sick. And leaving the world soon. I don't want to live in a republican society. I believe they are evil and corrupt, and offer nothing good to the world.
