idk if i could say it as emotional attachment, it's not because the book is really good either
when i was 4, my mom always left me in a bookstore when she went to buy groceries, and i always read this 花咲か爺さん Hanasaka Jiisan (The Story of the Old Man Who Made Withered Trees to Blossom)because the cover is cute. but I never asked my mom to buy it.
when i get older i still remember it and tried to get the book, but can't find any because it's not published anymore.
but fortunately when i told my friend from my latest workplace, she managed to find the book in another city, and gave it to me as my birthday's gift last year

Yes I get attached to a really well written book. But perhaps not as strongly as you. I feel its absence for a few hours and may think of it over the next few days but not depressed because its over.

@DrScissorhands Uff that is one character who still makes my heart beat. 🤣 But the only one. 🤭
I believe we bonded over that book and Beethoven 😅@SW-User

Oh gosh yes. I have around 8 or 10 books that I "crawl into" when I need to be comforted and safe.

Yes. One of them WAS my home. It accurately described everything about my house, home, and family issues. It gave me nightmares. It aggravated my anxiety and depression. I love it but I'm never going to read it again, except if I even reach a happy place in life, So I wouldn't feel too attached to it.

Yeah I've been temporarily depressed when I've reached the end of a series, and I've found it hard to reread some books because of the emotional journey I've been through with the character. It's hard to start that journey again.

I’ve definitely felt an attachment, a yearning. I like books that make me think about them after I’ve finished reading them. I’ve never had one make me feel depressed though.
yes in my case this is 1984 from Orson Welles. This book made a tremendous impact on me.

I can get that way with something I'm watching, if there are enough episodes.

@AussieZane Of course the non-thinker doesn't get what is being said and doesn't know Australia is a country and also a part of the Australian continent.
