and there’s a problem with the present in that no two points in the universe have the same present.
The fastest that information can arrive is the speed of light, so there’s always a lag (even if staggeringly slight), so if you see a person three metres away from you, you aren’t seeing what they’re doing in your present, you’re seeing what they were doing a hundred millionth of a second ago.
Your present is out of alignment with every other part of the universe.

@moonlitMoth420 Melts the brain, doesn’t it! If you look at the Moon, you’re seeing it as it was 1.27 seconds ago.
If you look at the stars, you’re not seeing them as they are in your personal present. Some of them died thousands, tens of thousands, millions of years ago... but the light hasn’t reached us yet. In like vein, there are new stars there, but that light hasn’t reached us yet. Even those stars you see are no longer as you see them. For example, if you look at Betelgeuse you’re seeing it as it was around 700 years ago.
The nearest star to Earth is the Sun, and you see that as it was 8.3 minutes ago

I like to think that the future is change, where the rate of change is dependent on the past and present.
Sort of fits in with the argument in the BC. Even time changes closer to a gravity well... obviously example is a black hole.
