Cause you listen to crappy music.
poimandres15 · 80-89, MVIP
@Dainbramadge I wanted to say that the music young people are hearing and which is crap for most older people is not the reason old people are negative in relation to the young generation, but that this phenomenon about music isn't new
poimandres15 · 80-89, MVIP
@Dainbramadge I agree. Music of the 70's and 80's has lost nothing of its attraction
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@poimandres15 I know right. I have been listening to it most of my life and still am not tired of it. Every time Stranglehold by Ted Nugent comes on the radio I still crank it up. LOL
I have a 9 year old that is really getting into music now and he likes Johnny Cash and Heart and others to that degree. But he also likes Koren pop music that believe it or not isn't bad.
He also likes a group called " Panic at the Disco ". You would be amazed at how much like Franck Sinatra it sounds.
So I guess I am saying that not all the newer music sucks but for the most part it is to commercialized.

I have guys almost half my age working with me and we all get along fine. I still remember when I was real young but I had pretty cool parents and we did almost every thing with them.
I have no negativity towards anyone younger. In fact it makes less work for me!
@SW-User lmao his is final :)

@SW-User Sometimes that’s the best attitude

@Carbohydrate 😂 Well he deserves it

Generalisations are almost always wrong. Neither are all older people negative and/or critical about the younger generations nor do all young people think they know better. I am a very old man myself (83) and am interested in the ways young people are thinking nowadays. I also have very dear friends among the younger generations. As usual all depends on the individuals involved. In my opinion both can learn from each other and there shouldn't be a feeling of superiority in either of them
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@poimandres15 interesting - i have many older acquaintances, as i have always been expected to be mature for my chronological age - i grew up knowing almost no one of my own age.
@poimandres15 Right on!! 🙌

A certain fraction (cause it's never everybody) experienced their periode of being X years old during a certain time and a certain place. And they consider this "the norm". When they look back, and see others being in the same periode of their own life that overlaps with the periode they already had and developed a "norm" for, and they see this new generation has moved away from the "norm"... then they run the risk of marginalising the new generations experience. It's not like theirs, so they don't understand it, so the new generation must be doing something wrong.

Ussually, people that look back, also only think of a certain number of experiences. Because recalling everything is a pretty hard thing to do for a human being. So "the norm" is ussually a verry subjective romantisation of what they actually experienced in their own time. Because memories fade, memories change and sometimes memories are just constructed. It's pretty hard for the youth to battle against romantic recollections of the past.

At least thats my idea... this has been going on for centuries. You find texts in ancient Rome of people looking back, and talking about the good old days.
Boy, what a sarcastic, critical attitude you've got there. Negative, as well. I've never seen that in public around here. We really can't pinpoint any particular generation. People will be people...period. Depends on their mood, but regardless, the older generations are like anyone, really. They react favorably when the younger ones show kindness, consideration, and respect.
most of you teenager act like you know everything just because you can google or YouTube everything
@SW-User i'm happy for them too if they're not lacking attitude and respect
SW-User
@YukikoAmagi You should relax a bit hahaha
@SW-User i'm relax. This is what happened here, you should know a bit too, the kids are lacking attitude and respect, when we teach them to behave they act like smart and have more life experience than us. The attitude differences with my generation is too huge
kydflash · 31-35, M
I'm not bitter towards the younger Generation. However where I live young people don't take advantage of the opportunities they have. When it comes to education, sports etc.. you guys are giving things that we wish we had when we were younger. When I see it go to waste, it's a bit upsetting. Some maybe bitter because they see young kids doing and accomplishing things they could not when they were younger. Often I give the younger generation advice so they don't make the same mistakes I did. A message to you young ones. Live your life to the fullest while your young. Don't live in your comfort zone, because you'll regret it when you get older.
kydflash · 31-35, M
@Carbohydrate oh, lol. When you said younger generation thought you were referring to teenagers.
@kydflash Nah everyone under 40 is young imo
@kydflash "Some maybe bitter because they see young kids doing and accomplishing things they could not when they were younger."

I think these would be the insecure ones.

Remember this post of yours 20 ... 30 years from now. It's one of the keys to happiness. You're on to something.
@poimandres15 trust me this bitch is the most stubborn person I've ever known. She ain't changing 😉
@RebornPhoenix Exactly. If you become bitter I feel for you but that's you own fault.
@Carbohydrate That's a shame.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
Smart?

That's a rarity, lol
@Quizzical he's beautiful if you are curious lmao
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Carbohydrate Feel free to PM me a pic. I appreciate beauty in all forms 😘
@Quizzical eh. Lol
They’re less receptive to changes the older they get.
SW-User
@Spoiledbrat True. We all are
I'M SCREAMINGGGGGGG

Do you just go and post all our conversations on sw? 🤔🤨😂
@RebornPhoenix pretty much.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
They’re mad because they’re old
TonyPajamas · 22-25
Shush grandma @LadyGrace
@TonyPajamas Now I understand. Even your profile groups you chose says you hate customers and sometimes you're "not very nice" to others. You were saying, little boy?
TonyPajamas · 22-25
What she say???? TELL ME!!@TonyPajamas
SW-User
There are plenty of older people worthy of criticism too, I normally just ignore though.
SW-User
@Carbohydrate worse sometimes
@SW-User Yes. Didn't wanna say anything. Age makes them bitter when I feel it should be the opposite
@Carbohydrate You got that backwards. Young people can be just as terrible as old people. I think you've just proved that with all this negativism towards older people. Wow. What's ironic, is that you say in one of your profile groups, "I'm here for anyone who needs a friend." You sure have a funny way of showing it. Will you delete this one, too, like all the other "old folks" who disagreed with you? I wouldn't want to be friends with someone like you, given your attitude.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
with age comes wisdom/knowledge and experience...

you'll be the same way in 15+ years from now...
SW-User
They've forgotten what it was like.
@SW-User Yes!
SW-User
@Carbohydrate Honestly, I find myself cringing a lot at people my age who are saying the exact same things Boomers said to us when we were young.
monte3 · 70-79, M
We old people have enough money and way less stress. Please keep working we need your money to fund our social security and Medicare...
4meAndyou · F
@monte3 😂
SW-User
Eh I think it varies individually a lot. I haven't noticed any such specific trend in my opinion
4meAndyou · F
You can't answer yes or no to a question that begins with "why", but I would hazard a guess that not ALL of the older generation are negative and critical. Those are simply the ones you remember.

I read a study once that says humans don't remember the good things, as a general rule. They remember bad or negative things and often can't forget them because that's a human survival mechanism which teaches us what things are unpleasant or which should be avoided.
SW-User
Lol I’ve met so many older women who try to put me down and keep repeating the same shit that they’re real women and I’m not 😂 I’m like, “If real women are like you, I don’t wanna be one.”
SW-User
@Carbohydrate Haha nope
Madelenie · 26-30, F
@SW-User @Carbohydrate I knew this would be the best answer 🎉
SW-User
@Madelenie 🤗❤️
Yulianna · 26-30, F
i do not experience this...
SW-User
It's just the ever moving conveyor belt of generations. We used to be the centre of the universe, then you were, then your kids will be, and so it goes on.
Basically the the older one gets the less control one has on their lives - they get less respect from the general public and feel that the world is out to cheat them sometimes. We can all feel that way once in a while.
I'm older but I don't think I see things in the way you put them, I don't think I'm bitter or hate anyone, I'm glad to hear that you must be in good health, I'm jealous of that part I guess lol 😂
SW-User
In 20 years, your generation will be crapping all over your kids’ generation.

SW-User
@SW-User The question was why that is the case.
SteveAt24 · 26-30, M
Dag nabbit - get of my lawn - damn kids - damn whippersnappers - go away
4meAndyou · F
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Nope. They have seen tons more than we have and their perspective is different. I know that when I'm elderly, I'll be like my dad was and dislike other cantankerous old people, too. Lol.
SW-User
Old people are idiots.
SW-User
@Yulianna I hope to become a corpse first.
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@SW-User before you become old? or before you become an idiot?
SW-User
@Yulianna Either, really.
