Why was my science post marked “sensitive” and “adult”?

Yesterday, I posted something about Rachel Carson (noted author and environmentalist) in the I Love Science group.

I see, however, that the photo was blurred and it is marked “sensitive” and “adult”.

Anyone have a clue why that is?

I have no idea why. Rachel Carson was ahead of her time in trying to educate people about the environment and chemicals.

@cherokeepatti My father purchased Silent Spring when it first came out.

@4meAndyou I have a copy of it too. She was spot on when she wrote that book. A lot of things have been covered up by the chemical industry, the media etc. Farmers committing suicide was not really about losing the farm because of inflation, it was because farmers were getting cancer and they had no health insurance to cover expenses & didn’t want to sell the family farm to pay the medical bills. My uncle was a farmer and told me they were exposed to so many chemicals and that set them up for cancer. They are like the canaries in the coal mine.

@cherokeepatti Look what Roundup almost did to all the bees that support all the food crops on the planet.

@4meAndyou Wondering what it is doing to us...

@cherokeepatti Causing cancer. There are ads on television right now by legal groups who want to represent anyone suffering from some kind of lipoma after working with or using Roundup.

@4meAndyou I don’t know why in the hell it took so many years for the story to come out...I heard over 15 years ago that Round-up was linked to a specific rare type of cancer, landscapers were getting it and Round-up was the common denominator...doctors knew it.

@cherokeepatti Lawyers were probably waiting for definitive proof to be forthcoming, and then there has to be at least one legal precedent before they are assured of winning. Also, it is possible that Roundup has set up a fund for their victims.

@4meAndyou They tried genetically engineered corn in Europe, Germany I believe. It was engineered to accept copious amounts of Roundup so they could plant it closer together and get higher yields. The cows that reached over and ate the corn had their stomach rupturing. Round up was banned there. I remember reading this a long time ago. Yet we Americans don’t have a clue about the dangers of it.

@cherokeepatti Roundup is still advertising on television. Until government bans it, we are turning a blind eye and endangering our own people.

@4meAndyou Something else. Mountain Dew contains a chemical that is a flame-retardant that has been banned in Europe because it is a carcinogen...can’t use it on clothing. That chemical keeps the fruit juice in Mountain Dew emulsified so the drink doesn’t get a cloudy look to it.

@cherokeepatti There is soooo much. BHT and BHA, used routinely in kids cereal, is also an ingredient used in jet fuel. BHT is butylated hydroxytoluene. It is used as a component in jet fuel, rubber petroleum products, cosmetics, electrical transformer oil, and embalming fluid (the stuff they put in dead people to replace blood) and preserve the body...and now it is in Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Boo Berry, and on and on.

@4meAndyou I don’t know why but most of the chicken sold at Aldi stores has carrageenan injected in it, it’s linked to tumors. Also in most brands of cream and some half-and-half.

@cherokeepatti That's the stuff that makes me ill in fake ice cream and dairy free cream cheese.

@cherokeepatti Sorry to jump in here, but a classmate of mine from grade school died of cancer in January last year. For decades he worked in the lawn care business, and they used Roundup. I'm sure that that's what gave him cancer, and I heard that there was a class action lawsuit against Roundup because so many people who used it got cancer. I don't know what the outcome was though.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TeresaRudolph71 Sad...I used to use it till I heard it discussed on a NPR show and that was before the Europeans knew about it. Haven’t used it since.
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
@cherokeepatti Good for you. More people need to know, or it just needs to be outlawed.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TeresaRudolph71 I’ve been telling people since I heard it being discussed on NPR.
