Are people really afraid of schizophrenics?

We aren't dangerous to anyone (as far as I can tell) except maybe ourselves.

I always loved schizophrenia. I know it's not easy to deal with it. But i've always been interested in mental disorders and clinical psychology. Not sure if loved is right word but... let's say fascinated...
