I just don't understand why people can't take a debate seriously.

They start an argument with you, and then can't stick to it. They have to call you names and try to attack you personally instead of attacking your argument. And then sometimes they even turn around and accuse you of doing the name calling. I don't get it.

There's two camps as I see it.

Some who just aren't emotionally invested or care enough to rant on and on in a debate over an issue and don't feel it's worth their energy.

Then there's the big one that just hates anything that doesn't fit their biased narrative and just want to throw judgemental temper-tantrums towards any deviation of there view.
Also there are people who try and debate principles which are not pragmatic and not debates on facts.


I just had someone do the exact thing you mention. Accuse me of name calling when not once the entire time did I us one insult or call the person any names.
