because Conservatives are amplifying the most vitriolic among them and using their misandry as a bludgeon against transgender chicks.

@BRUUH The critique of "white feminism" comes directly from black women who would read through classic feminist books like The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan, and be like, "I don't see myself in your feminism. You are not addressing issues that are crushing me." By and large, black women never been told they had to stay home and be housewives, the obligation has always been to go out and work menial jobs in order to just make ends meet.

My son (a white male just out of high school) was asking me the other day if I am one of those people who get offended by racial things. My answer was that, it's kind of a weird question. It's not really my place to be offended on behalf of someone else. That's not my lane. However, if there are things that I know my friends of color have told me is offensive or racially insensitive, I want to be a good ally to them. It's all about respect.

He asked how I feel about "cultural appropriation," and I gave him a similar answer. I think a lot of people will push the accusations of cultural appropriation too far. But if someone from another culture tells me, "You don't understand my culture, and the way you are using things from my culture is offensive to me," I want to respect that. It would be like if someone from another culture really likes the American flag, so they decide to spread a flag over the floor of their apartment. I would want to explain that the flag has a certain meaning for Americans, and part of it is that we don't ever let a flag touch the ground. They may have good intentions, but I hope they would understand why seeing my flag on the floor would provoke a strong reaction in me. I hope they would respect my feelings and not treat the flag that way. And so similarly, I would like to respect their traditions as well. If they tell me that my use of their culture is offensive, I would not want to continue doing so.

One of the best critiques I've seen of "white feminism" comes from Bill Burr, who is certainly not a feminist. This bit is spot on.

@ShadowSister Anyone who unironically uses the phrase "white feminism" is probably toxic.

@BRUUH Did you watch the Bill Burr clip? It's literally only like a minute long. It's a funny clip.

I'm not saying white folks have no problems. Just that being white is not one of the factors that make our lives harder.

Anyone who continues to disrespect the flag after I explain why is disrespecting my grandfather, father, uncle, and soon my son, who all served (or will serve) this country and were willing to lay down their lives if necessary. It's your right not to care about the symbols of our country, but I hope you would understand why I do.
