Feminism isn't about women being superior to men. It's about giving women the equality they deserve as human beings.

@Emosaur it isn't 100%.

@DearAmbellina2113 You're right, we still have rights that men don't have. :)
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@Emosaur there is still a pay discrepancy, they're penalized for becoming pregnant, and in maaaany homes, the woman is still expected to do the cooking and housework. Men who choose to be the stay-at-home parent are laughed at, and women who are the breadwinners get chided for "picking their career over their kids". Men can ask for a vasectomy at any age and get it. Women who ask for their tubes to be tied are refused- the doctor tells them to wait until they've had children or until their husbands are sure they are ok with not having kids.

You can tell yourself that women have equality in the western world. But you're either lying to yourself or you're uninformed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

True equality requires men have the same rights as we have. As you say, men who choose to be the stay-at-home parent are laughed at, and women who are the breadwinners get chided for "picking their career over their kids".

@Sharon exactly. There is no real equality yet. But we have come a long way.

@DearAmbellina2113 I think we need to work with men to get them the same rights as we have. That way they become allies. At the moment there is a perception the feminism is all about gaining additional rights for women at the expense of men. That makes those potential allies opponents instead.

@Emosaur
Exactly, and how does that negatively affect women?
It's an example of inequality so which sex is disadvantaged isn't really relevant. However, it negatively affects women at it put more pressure on them to be the stay at home parent. Of course, it negatively affects men too, just in a different way.
Do they really? That's the first time I even hear of that.
I'v met that attitude a few times although, in my experience, it's not all that common. YMMV.
@Sharon no there's no perception except from the ones who distort everything..this idiotic bs has been going on forever.

woman still get the short end of the stick in pay and respect everywhere

@Whiterosesociety
woman still get the short end of the stick in pay
I disagree. I know several women who earn more than their husbands. I'm not aware of being treated with less respect than men either. If anything, in my experience it's the other way around.
@Sharon the "some" is not the enemy of the "most"...milady!!

maybe here.

To what do you refer with that comment? Men and women are paid the same rate for the same work as a matter of law. Some jobs are higher paid than others. As a result, some men are paid more than some women but some women are paid more than some men. The so-called "pay gap" is actually the result of individuals' life style choices.
