I Believe In Feminism

Where do certain men get off? Why are they so patronizing and think a woman wants to actually sit there, minding her own business and actually listen to bullshit? Enough of 'mansplaining' and 'menterrupting'. I'm talking about the total stranger who comes into your personal space with nothing better to do apparently than make your day a bit more boring.

Did this person just sit down and start talking about random nonsensical stuff?
MantledInClouds · 26-30, F
@ArtisticStatic Of course it's nonsensical to some men who lack depth or looking at a different view of a situation other than their own.

Would you mind filling me in on what this person said that bored you? I wouldn't think people would just sit down and start spouting that the disagree with a view that they have no idea someone has.

@ArtisticStatic These are the kind of guys that say 'sweetheart you look just like my niece' but then they try to sit with you and act like they need to follow you home. Or men who come up behind you and put their arms around you, then talk about all of these personal details you have nothing to do with. Really. I was at this guitar workshop and some old gray-haired guy came up trying to help me 'tune' my guitar. Then he went off on this tangent about his hand that's missing a thumb so he couldn't play guitar since he was a kid, but he condesended to the other players in the room. 'You can't play that like I could!' 'You're young and you still have a long way to go.' Fat and obnoxious, I can't stand that. When I told him he needed to back up after he came up to me and tried to whisper something to me, he got all flamboyant and went 'You're insulting me!' The kind of men that go after anyone who looks like they're under 30 even if they're 50 and over. I've had husbands try to give me hugs even if I work with their wives. Young guys say 'how's your day' and all that. But older men who are incels or something have some major issues with not being able to read physical signs of 'leave me alone', 'I'm reading', etc.

See this makes a whole lot more sense now that I know what was bothering you. Yeah, I would have been annoyed too, just as a person in general. The guy really just sounds like a lot of the older male populace. Note that not all men, older men or people are like that. He was out of line, sure and should have backed off when you told him to. Afterall he sounds like he was being generally obnoxious. I would try and not let it bother me.

@ArtisticStatic The thing I hate though is that he'll try it with another young woman if I don't say something. Which is why I usually do.
ArtisticStatic · 36-40, M
@MantledInClouds Oh, I get it. Sometimes you just have to chalk it up to people are jerks sometimes. Call bullshit when you see bullshit, you know?
MantledInClouds · 26-30, F
@ArtisticStatic True. Thanks for seeing my point.

@MantledInClouds It wasn't hard to see when there was context. Have a nice night.

@ArtisticStatic Take care.
