half the time when people say "be more open minded", do they really mean to say "have my ideas&

Many people feel that having an open mind means you are willing to accept everything thrown at you as truth and acceptable. To me that only makes you a fool.
Being willing to listen or try to others ideas does not mean agreeing with others ideas. I wish that was better understood.
