Is cannibalism morally wrong?

Not talking about murdering someone and eating them necessarily.
There are for instance examples of two consenting adults who agree to eat and be eaten respectively.
So is cannibalism itself morally wrong?

If it is consensual (and I'm not sure what is meant, is the person to be eaten having a non-essential part cut off for someone to consume, or making posthumous arrangements?) while repugnant, who else would know ?

Well think of it in the same way as assisted dying. A person can choose to end their life willingly. The only difference is that another person then consumes their flesh.
Sure it's icky, but i don't know that it's wrong
@MetalGreymon Assisted suicide is only legal when the person is already dying. Except to the person's loved ones, what happens to the body after that is probably of little consequence. Although a necrophile here tried to make the same argument for people being able to have sex with dead bodies. In that instance, the person claimed a mortician she knew "borrowed" attractive corpses for the "games" of his social circle. In that case, there had been no prior agreement by the deceased or family.

Well i'll point out that legal and moral are not necessarily the same thing, but i do believe that consent plays a major role in whether or not cannibalism is morally right
@MetalGreymon It's one of those things where the "ick" factor gets in the way of my being able to really view it objectively.🤢

Yeah i hear ya. As in so many cases we just have to divorce ourselves from out prejudice in order to be rational
@MetalGreymon It's nothing I'd ever want to do---I don't want to be eaten, nor do I want to eat anyone. So I don't see it being a "prejudice" I need to overcome. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Perhaps prejudice is the wrong word. Ethnocentrism might be more accurate.
@MetalGreymon I understand that even less. It's a cultural norm I choose not to "appropriate ".

Well for example in some cultures it is or was normal and proper to consume the flesh of a dead person as part of the funeral rite. That was culturally normal.
So if we move beyond our ethnocentric view, if we can look past what we believe on the basis that we were brought up to believe it, we can truly start answering the question of whether or not cannibalism is actually morally wrong
@MetalGreymon I knew what you were saying. I was making the point that since it is not my cultural norm, I don't really have to get involved.

Well you don't HAVE to do anything lol
