What causes you to be jealous in a relationship?

Any relationship since I know there is jealousy within friends.
To answer that, with my last boyfriend which was about 2 years ago? He used to go to this one girl's house and also, this girl-friend of his would always talk to him about her relationship problems. Another kind of jealousy, which is minor is when he liked pictures of girls who are very attractive, never comments though.
